I can't laugh anymore

I am 15 years old and I have always laughed at everything, even if it wasn't funny. It was always fun and a way of coping with stress and anxiety. I have been diagnosed with depression and an anxiety disorder. I think I may also have Ocd but that is a different topic. I take 10mlg of Escitalopram a day. For the past year now I have not been able to laugh even though I find things funny. I always have to pretend to laugh so I don't look awkward. In school, I would always be chastised for laughing, so I would have to hold it in. This may be one of the causes of my problem, besides being depressed. I just want to laugh again. When I find things funny the only response is sometimes a smile, but never a laugh. If anyone could help me I would be so grateful.

Hi BlueVulpes. I have always been someone who laughs a lot as well, but when I was depressed I didn't and I don't know if it was because I felt so down and ill or because of the med I took. Maybe worth discussing with your doctor? Sometimes they will reduce a dosage. Also, if it's possible and available and you are not getting extra help already, try and push for psychological support, especially if you think there are deeper issues to address. I hope you get the joy of laughter back, it's a gift.
