IrmaJean
Sounds as though you're being very hard on yourself, LaLa.
LaLa
I'm sorry; I shouldn't have written it .I'm glad I'm able to write in a way that I appear as a sweet person to some people here. It's better than nothing. But being with me in person every day is very different from reading some posts I wrote on-line .
Resolute
I'm glad I'm able to write in a way that I appear as a sweet person to some people here. It's better than nothing. But being with me in person every day is very different from reading some posts I wrote on-line .i didn't deduce that you were a sweet person from the way you write. i concluded that from your efforts to help people here in many of your posts (and other things). oh, and the ladybug avatar also suggests sweetness . Small
Tea makes me feel less shitty, the rain, soaking in the tub, sometimes my niece but mostly nothing really. I don't try to feel better anymore, I sort of embrace the darkness and negativity. Fuck it right? Why imagine the light where there isn't any. Needing to feel soothed is all BS really anyway. Avoidance, escapism, delusion, defences and withdrawal. Victimorthecrime

TooOld4This
Uh, i'm glad i'm not the only confused one. What's a "tote"? Where i come from, it's a large canvas bag with handles, especially one used for sports equipment or workout clothes.

TooOld4This
I went to the funeral of a much-loved friend today. It motivated me to post a list of my favorite smells: — fresh coffee brewing — a lawn that has just been mowed (by someone else!) — cinnamon buns in the oven— bacon frying — steaks grilling over charcoal — a just-opened box of Crayola crayons — a bushel of apples in September — a just-opened can of Play-Dough — the inside of a new car — a wife’s or girlfriend’s hair — autumn air — the fireplace in a ski lodge — popcorn in a movie theater — honeysuckle in Georgia on a night in June. Enjoy your life. IrmaJean and gone

Enjoy your life. The smell of fresh baked bread hot out of the oven. The smell of hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill. (to go with those steaks) The smell of flowering trees and flowers in the spring. The smells of construction. Fresh cut wood of different types. TO4T's list made me stop and appreciate the things I tend to take for granted. BTW my condolences with your friend. Its hard to say goodbye, I know. jazz
Two really good lists. I like sweet scents - vanilla, chocolate, honey, roses, strawberries - and I like the smell of hay at harvest time, takes me back to childhood days. I am just getting interested in aromatherapy, I find that very soothing. gone
LaLa
Perhaps let's try to post some soothing pictures in these difficult moments (of modern history)? IrmaJean
This is a beautiful photo, I love it. Very cool. The first thing I thought of when I looked at this was my friend k. Thank you, LaLa. Some of the apps changed on my phone so I'm not sure how to post photos at the moment, unfortunately. I do find nature photos soothing. They are not only beautiful to see, they also remind me of the calmness and serenity I have within myself...so they are grounding as well. TooOld4This
Yesterday, after 24 hours of suffering over the election results, i found an old religious hymn on my iPhone: "It Is Well With My Soul" sung by George Beverly Shea (a name that will be familiar to people of a particular religion and particular generation). The story is, Horatio Spafford lost his son in the Chicago Fire; then lost the rest of his family when their ship sank. So the hymn comes from an emotional place of loss and tragedy. That's what makes the lyrics more than just words. It's a declaration of inner peace, in the face of life events that declared war against happiness. That, to me, was very soothing. And do that in the face of tragedy was, to me, heroic. Klingsor and LaLa
IrmaJean
I'm glad you found something that soothed you, 4this. I listened to the hymn and I enjoyed it as well. Music can be healing and especially if it resonates on a deep level.
Michaela
Taking long, hot bubble baths (I really miss having a bath tub) Standing in my kitchen with a hot cup of coffee or tea. Watching the birds or bunnies outside. Chilling in the bar at night with my partner.
CheldonMK
I always enjoy sipping a hot cup of tea....Well, I usually drink a pot or two of it. I'm also a nurturer by nature, so I often find peace in caring for others. Victimorthecrime
