Is this ADHD? Anyone with same symptoms

I am not qualified to diagnose anything, and I doubt anyone qualified would give a diagnosis based on an internet posting. What I can say is that in my case ADHD was diagnosed by way of exclusion. I was assessed for everything else possible before finally being tested for ADHD. Based on my test score (I think it was called CAARS) my therapist who specializes in ADHD diagnosed me with adult ADD. I had asked therapists to test me for ADD in the beginning but I was told things like, "ADHD is strictly a childhood disorder," (not true) or "You can't have ADHD because you were able to graduate college." In reality I was able to graduate college because I only took classes that were below my skill level to get good grades without studying.

This took over two years. So if it is ADHD, be prepared for a long haul. Your experience may vary, but only a professional can diagnose ADHD and given the amount of misunderstanding of the condition, even amongst medical doctors, it would be ideal IMHO to see someone who specializes in treating this condition.

I'd definitely talk to a specialist about it. I have ADHD and have experienced a lot of what you are now. Mental health is so tricky because so many symptoms overlap with eachother. Sometimes a symptom, like anxiety, can be a disorder in itself. I'm no doctor, but I can see how this is causing you a lot of stress in your life. Finding a good psychologist and psychiatrist will really give you a head start to feeling better and enjoting life. You might end up having to see a neurologist if there's something deeper than a psychological problem. I hope you are able to start feeling better soon!

Me and my husband are together for more than 18 years now. Even if he has ADHD, he still manage to keep his job for a long period of time, and that will always be something I can be really be proud of. Now that he's in his 40's everthing's changed. He gets jealous at times. He's not like that before, not like even close. I don't know what happen to us or is this something that I can blame his disorder. Some people go through this midlife crisis, right? What should I do?

Hi, Ava, welcome!

I'm sorry your marriage has become so difficult :( .

It doesn't sound like being related to his ADHD. May I ask what do you mean by "everything's changed"? Except for his jealousy, what else is different?

And have you already talked about it with him? What does he say? Does he admit he's changed, did he give some reasons?

Good luck and take care!

I am not a doctor but what I can tell for sure is that you have a hard time focusing and your attention span is quite small too. So, it could potentially point to ADHD but again, I am not a doctor. What I do know, however, is how you can raise your focus since coffee pills worked for you. I have used marijuana for some time now and it has definitely alleviated most of such symptoms that I used to face earlier. Marijuana has been known scientifically to treat mental health problems and alleviate their symptoms so I would definitely recommend it to you.
