Dan93
That's interesting .. I also punched myself today .. lost my job and, sadly, it was all my fault .. but I guess it's ok as long as you don't get stuck in that sorry state .. pack a good punch, man up and go on P.S.: I have not answered your question, just posted this because it seemed funny as I have done the same thing today. mts

IrmaJean
Sounds like self-injury to me. Maybe a punching bag might help? Deep breathing? Exercise?Dan, it sounds as though you have an inner encouraging voice. That's a positive thing. I hope there is also a part of you who knows it's okay to feel upset and hurt at times.I hope everyone feels better. mts

TooOld4This
Sorry you felt that much anger, mts. I have hit myself too (as recently as this spring), because i hate myself. I've cut myself with razors and jackknives too. You're not the only one who has this defect. I hope you will find support in this community where a lot of people understand what you're going through. TooOld4This
In my case, mts, it always requires a motivation; typically a mistake i made. If i make a dumb mistake with significant consequences, then it activates my self-hatred and i hurt myself. The best example was when i was in college and i forgot to pick my father up at an appointment. That's when i used the jackknife. I still have scars on my left arm from that. The media seems to want to make this a thing that only young women do (for example, Maggie Gyllenhaal's character in the movie Secretary). But it seems to me it could be a problem for anyone whose self-esteem has been crushed badly enough. Not that i'm a research psychologist who's studied it scientifically. TooOld4This
You mean, the mistake is you're not seeing people who are important to you?Or, the mistake activates your mental problems so you don't socialize?

TooOld4This
It's a mistake we all make: we miss the medicinal people and somehow always find (or remember) the toxic people.Hope you reconnect with many medicinal people this month.
