The Chinese Language

Hello,

I want to get interested in learning the Chinese language, but I have no idea where to start.  I've tried Memrise, Pimsleur, etc., but nothing seems to work.  I quickly get bored and lose interest/motivation for Memrise/Pimsleur.  They offer a Chinese course next semester at my local community college, but I don't want to go to that because it's a day class, and I don't like day classes because not too friendly/mature people are there during the day.

I've also considered Assimil Chinese with ease, but I don't know/think that would work for me either.

I just don't know what to do...

Can anybody help me?

You may "start" here ;)

It's not a joke (although I know this won't really teach you much), it just occurred to me that this may be a nice TED talk to see for somebody who wants to learn Chinese.

BTW; I know somebody who learned Chinese with help of a Chinese guy whom he somehow contacted on the web as he offered "lessons / consultations" by Skype and chat: There apparently are people offering this support for learners of languages, so I assume there should be a website where they offer it. Perhaps this could be also a way for you: You might at least ask them there the same you asked us here.

Good luck!
