Will you FIGHT like the DEVIL, to just, keep your head, above WATER ~~~

Chained, to whatever, you got, that you cant, throw away ~~~

And youre shootin' through SPACE, on this river, of life, that youre RIDIN'~~~

And its squirlin' and suckin', you deeper on down everyDAY ~~~

So you turn to your, trustee, old partner, to share, some old feelin's ~~~

And you find, to your shock, that your faithful, companion, is GONE ~~~ (roll on Stephen) ~~~

And the TRUTH slowly dawns, that youre, LOST and ALONE in DEEEEEEP water ~~~

And you dont even know, how much longer, there is ~~~~~~ to go, on ~~~~~~

Like an old holy bible, you clung to, through so many seasons ~~~

With the rules of survival, and words, you could still understand ~~~

When they prove somethin' wrong, you believed in, so long you go CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY ~~~

And youre so close, to foldin', the cards, that you hold, in your hand ~~~

Singin' HOLY, toledo, I cant see the LIIIIIIIIIGHT anymore ~~~

All those, horizons that I, used to guide me are GONE ~~~

And the DARKNESS, is drivin' me farther, away from the SHORE ~~~~~~

Take from, a rhyme, or a reason, to try to go on ~~~

Hello darkness, my old friend...

Ive called, to talk with you, again...

Because, the vision softly, creepin'...

Left its seeds, while I was sleepin'...

And the vision that was planted, in my, brain

Still remains...

Within'......The Sound, Of Silience

Restless dreams, I walked alone...

Narrow streets of cobblestone...

Neath the halo, of a, street lamp...

I turned! my collar, to the cold, and damp...

When my eyes were stabbed, by the flash! of a neon, light

That split the, night...

And touched......The Sound, Of Silence...

And in the naked light I saw...

Ten thousand people, maybe more...

People talking without, speaking...

People hearing, without, listening...

People writing, songs, that voices, never share

And no one, dared...

Disturd......The Sound, Of, Silence

Fools said "I, You do not know"...

Silence like a cancer GROWS...

Hear my words, that I might, teach you...

Take my arms, that I might reach out to you...

But my, words, like silent, raindrops, fell

And echoed...

In the wells, of silence...

And the people, bowed and prayed

To, the neon God, they made...

And the sign! flashed its, warning...

And the words, that it was forming...

Said "The words, of the prophets!, are written! on the subway walls"

And, tenement halls...

And whispered, in......The Sound, Of Silence......

I dont drink the way, that I used to

Really, that just aint my, style...

And the hard, times, dont hurt, like they once, did...

They pass more quickly, like when I, was wild...

And somehow, I learned how, to listen......to a sound, like the sun, goin', down...

In the magic!...the mornin'!, is briiiiinnnngggin'...theres a Song, For The Life, I have found...

Those mid-summer days, aint to heavy

They just flow, like a breeze, through my mind...

And nothin', appears, in a hurry...

To make up, for some old, lost time...

And somehow, Ive learned how, to listen......to a sound, like, the sun goin', down...

In the magic!...the mornin'!, is briiiiinnnngggin'...theres, a Song, For The Life, I have found...

Somehow, I learned how, to listen......to a sound, like the breeze, dyin', down...

In the magic!...the mornin'!, is briiiiinnnngggin'...theres, a Song, For The Life, I have, found...

I saw your picture, in, the paper...

And I see, youve married, good...

And I know, that he can, give, you...

All the things I, never coullld...

But! I know, that he cant give, you...

What you need, most of all...

So, The Door, Is Always, Open...

And the lights, on in the hall...

Yes! The Door Is, Always, Open...

And, the lights on, in the hall...

And you know, that Ill, be waiting...

If you, ever, come, to call......

When night falls, on that, mansion...

And youre, lyin', in his bed...

When he begs you, for attention...

Do you think of me, insteaddd

And! when he, reaches out, to touch, you...

Is, your face turned, to the wall...

Well The Door, Is, Always Open...

And, the lights, on in the hall...

Yes! The Door, Is Always Open...

And the lights, on, in the hall...

And you know, that Ill, be waiting...

If you, ever, come to call...

Yes The Door, Is Always Open...

And the lights, on in, the hall...

And you know, that Ill be, waiting...

If you, ever, come, to call...

CGIA, I love that song. Brings back memories. Here's another i love from from that time zone:

If you could read my mind love

What a tale my thoughts could tell

Just like an old time movie

'Bout a ghost from a wishin' well

In a castle dark or a fortress strong

With chains upon my feet

You know that ghost is me

And I will never be set free

As long as I'm a ghost that you can't see

If I could read your mind love

What a tale your thoughts could tell

Just like a paperback novel

The kind that drugstores sell

When you reach the part where the heartaches come

The hero would be me

But heroes often fail

And you won't read that book again

Because the ending's just too hard to take

I'd walk away like a movie star

Who gets burned in a three way script

Enter number two

A movie queen to play the scene

Of bringing all the good things out in me

But for now love, let's be real

* I never thought I could ACT this way *

And I've got to say that I just don't get it

I don't know where we went wrong

But the feelin's gone

And I just can't get it back

If you could read my mind love

What a tale my thoughts could tell

Just like an old time movie

'Bout a ghost from a wishin' well

In a castle dark or a fortress strong

With chains upon my feet

But stories always end

And if you read between the lines

You'll know that I'm just tryin' to understand

The feelin's that you lack

I never thought I could feel this way

And I've got to say that I just don't get it

I don't know where we went wrong

But the feelin's gone

And I just can't get it back

Good Mornin' Sunrise...

How long, has it been...

Well it, looks like, I drank myself sober, again......

Everrrrrrrrrrrr since, she left, me

You've been, soooooo hard, to face

Good Mornin', Sunrise ~~~ guess i'll, call it a'day ~~~~~~

Last time I, saw you...

You, let me down...

I told her by mornin', she and I, would work, things, out......

You took that sky, just liiiiiike she was yourrrrrrrs to take

Good Mornin' Sunrise ~~~ guess i'll call it a'day ~~~~~~

You alwaaaaaaaaaaaays held her, in a better liiight, then I...

I brought, her heartache, aw and your beauty, made her cryyy......

They say, whiskey, before noon, is such a shame...

Thats why the night, has taken your, place...

Unlike youuuuuuuuu, her memory, never, faaaaaades away

Good Mornin', Sunrise ~~~ guess i'll, call, it a'day ~~~ Good Mornin', Sunrise ~~~

Sittin', here countin', the cars, going by

In a'hour, must'a been, one or two...

The sheets are, a'flappin, on mamaaas close line

On an old Front, Porch Swing, Afternoon...

I, can hear music, from somewhere, inside

The faint sound, of a Hank Williams, tune...

I just cauuught the smell, of a blackberry pie

On this old, Front Porch Swing, Afternoon...

And, ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu feel that, breeze blowin'

That magnooolia showin', her bloom...

On this old Front Porch, Swing, Afternoon......

That ollld dog is layin', under grampas, old chair

He ain't lookin', for nothin', to do...

That tractor is, stirren up, dust over there

On this old, Front Porch, Swing, Afternoon...

I can see, grandma now, in her old, checkered dress

Beatin', a rug, with her broom...

The clouds are, a'churnin', comin' in from, the West

On this old, Front, Porch, Swing, Afternoon ~~~

And, ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu feel that, breeze blowin'

The sun will, be goin', down, soon

On an old Front Porch, Swing, Afternoon ~~~ On this old, Front Porch, Swing, Afternoon ~~~

Suppose I called you up tonight

And told you, that I love you

And suppose I said, I wanna come back home...

And suppose I cried and said I think I finally learned my lesson

And Im tired of spendin' all my time, alone...

If I told you that I realize, you're all I ever wanted

And its killing me to be, so far away...

Would you tell me that you love me too

And would we, cry together

Or WOULD you simply laugh at me and saaaaaaaaaaaay

I Tolllllllllllld You Sooooooooooooooooooooo

Oh I, Tolllld You Soooo...

I told you someday you'd come crawlin' back, and askin' me, to take you in...

I Tolllllllllllld You Soooooooooooooooooo

But you, had, to go...

Now Ive found, somebody new and you will never, break my heart in two, again......

If I got down on my knees and told you I was yours forever

Would you get down on yours to and take, my hand...

Would we get that Old Time Feelin'

Would we laugh and talk, for hours

The way we did, when our love first, began...

Would you tell me that you've missed me too

And that you've, been so lonely

And you've waited, for the day, that I, returned...

And we live and love forever

And that Im, your one and only

Or would you say, the tables FINALLY turrrrrrrrrrrrned

Would you say I, Tollllllllllllllld You Soooooooooooooooooo

Oh I, Tolllld You Soooo...

I told you someday you'd come crawlin' back, and askin' me to take you in...

I Tollllllllllllllld You Soooooooooooooooooo

But you had, to go...

Now Ive found somebody new and you will, never break my heart in two, again...

Now Ive found somebody new, and you will never break my heart, in two again...

Im gonna steal me, a Silver Stallion...

With not a mark, up on, his silky hide...

And teach him he can, trust me like a brother...

One day, we'll saddle up and, ride...

And we're gonna Ride ~~~ we're gonna Ride ~~~

Ride like a one eyed, Jack of Diamonds, with the devil, close behind

We're gonna Ride ~~~

Im gonna, find me a reckless woman

Razor blades and dice, in her eyes...

Just a touch, of sadness in her fingers

Thunder, and LIGHTNING in her thighs...

And we're gonna Ride ~~~ we're gonna Riiide ~~~

Ride, like a one eyed Jack of Diamonds with the devil, close behind

We're gonna Ride ~~~

Im gonna CHASE the sky, forever

With a woman, and a stallion, in the wind...

And the sun is gonna burn, into a sinder...

Before, we ever, pass this way, again...

And we're gonna Ride ~~~ we're gonna Riiide ~~~

Ride like a one eyed, Jack of Diamonds with the devil close, behind

We're gonna Ride ~~~

To the town of Agua Fria, rode a stranger one fine day...

Hardly spoke to folks, around him, didnt have to much to say...

Noone dared to ask his business, noone dared to make a slip

For the stranger there, among them

Had a Big Iron, on his hip

Big Iron on his, hip...

It was early in, the mornin', when he rode into the town...

He came ridin' from the southside

Slowly lookin', all around...

Hes an outlaw loose and runnin' came the whisper, from each lip

And hes here, to do some business

With the Big Iron, on his hip

Big Iron, on his hip...

In this town there lived an outlaw, by the name of Texas Red...

Many men had tried to take him, and that many men, were dead...

He was vicious and a killer, though a youth off 24

And the notches on his pistol

Numbered 1 and 19 more...

1 and 19, more...

Now the stranger started talkin', made it plain to folks around...

He was an Arizona Ranger, wouldnt be to long, in town...

He came here, to take an outlaw back alive, or maybe dead

And he said it didnt matter...

He was after, Texas Red

After Texas, Red...

The mornin' passed so quickly, it was time, for them to meet...

It was 20 passed 11, when they walked out, in the street...

Folks were watchin' from their windows

Everybody, held there breath

They knew this handsome ranger

Was about, to meet his death...

Was about to meet his, death...

There was 40 feet between them, when they stopped, to make their play...

And the swiftness of, the Ranger, is still talked about, today...

Texas Red, had not cleared leather, when a bullet, fairly ripped

And the Rangers aim, was deadly

With the Big Iron on, his hip

The Big Iron, on his, hip...

Big Iron... Big Iron...

When he tried to match the Ranger

With the Big Iron, on his hip

Big Iron, on his, hip...

The warden, led a prisoner

Down the hallway, to his doom...

I stood up, to say goodbye

Like all, the rest...

And I heard him tell, the warden

Just before, he reached, my cell

Let my guitar, playin' friend do my, request...

Let him, Sing, Me Back Home

With a song, I used to hear

And make, my old memories, come alive...

And take, me away, and turn back, the years

Sing, Me Back Home, before I die...

I recall, last Sunday mornin', a choir, from off the streets

Came in to sing, a few old, gospel songs...

And I heard him, tell the singers, theres a song, my mama sings

Could I hear it once, before you, move along...

Wont you, Sing, Me Back Home

With a song, I used, to hear

Make, my old memories, come alive...

Take me away, and turn, back the years

Sing, Me Back Home, before I die ~~~ Sing, Me Back Home, before I die ~~~

Always Wanting You, but, never having you...

Makes it hard to face tommorrow, cause I know Ill wake up, wanting you again...

Always, loving you, but never, touching you...

Sometimes it hurts me, almost, more than I, can stand...

Id been better off if Id, turned away, and never looked at you, a second time

Cause I really had my life, all together, till your eyes, met mine...

And there I saw a yearning, and a feeling cross the room, that you, felt for me

Wish, I had a way of knowing, that the things we had, in mind, could never be...

Always, Wanting, You, but never having you...

Makes it hard to face tommorrow, cause I know, Ill wake up wanting, you again...

Always, loving you, but, never, touching you...

Sometimes hurts me almost more, than I can stand...

Always loving you, but, never touching you

Sometimes, hurts me almost more, than I can stand......

The first time we met, is a "Favorite" Memory, of mine...

They say time changes all, it pertains to

But your memory, is stronger, than time...

I guess everything does change, except, what you choose, to recall...

Theres a million good, daydreams, to dream on...

But baby, you are, My "Favorite" Memory of all......

Like the night we made love in, the hallway

Slept all, night long, on the floor...

Like the winter, we spent on, Lake Shasta

Alone, and closer, then ever, before...

And I remember that, London vacation

It was you, made the whole thing, evolve...

Theres a million, good times I, could dwell on...

But baby, you are, My "Favorite" Memory of all...

The first time we met is a "Favorite" Memory of mine...

Say time, changes all, it pertains to

But your memory, is stronger than time...

I guess everything does change, except what, you choose to recall...

Theres a million, good daydreams, to dream on...

Baby, you are, My "Favorite" Memory of all

I met you in the shadows

And your face, was all a glow

I remember it so well, though it was many, years ago

We both knew something happened, without alot to say

But we had other lives, and so, we went our seperate ways

But our hearts communicated...

And everytime we passed

We were gradually building something, that would, forever last

As long, as long, as the moon, as the moon, shall rise

As the moon, shall riiiiiise

As long, as long, as the rivers, as the rivers, flow

As the rivers, floooooow

As long, as long, as the sun, as the sun, will shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

As long, As Long, As The Grass, Shall, Grow

My heart was calling for you, when one night you came along

We danced around each other, but then, we sang our song

Our harmony was, shaky, and the pitch, not very true

But then, you gave into me, and I, gave into you...

We had to fight the world, and we fought with all we had

We vowed, to be together, through the sweet times, and the bad

As long, as long, as the moon, as the moon, shall rise

As the moon, shall riiiiiise

As long, as long, as the rivers, as the rivers, flow

As the rivers, floooooow

As long, as long, as the sun, as the sun, will shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

As long, As Long, As The Grass, Shall Grow

I hear you whisper every night, "May I have this dance"

And though Im not light on my feet, I always take the chance...

We've gone through many storms, and often, walked through fire

But always, our love and faith, took us higher, and higher...

We know the mystery of life, its love hard and long

I love you, I love you, and I always will, as long

As long, as long, as the moon, as the moon, shall rise

As the moon, shall riiiiiise

As long, as long, as the rivers, as the rivers, flow

As the rivers, floooooow

As long, as long, as the sun, as the sun, will shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

As long, As Long, As The Grass, Shall, Grow

Deep In, The West, where the tall, mountains grown

I've gone, home...

Where the heavens, above, turns red from, the fire down below...

Are you listening, to me, when I'm talking, to you

Said together, we're one, divided were through

Divided were, through...

Silver friend at night, yellow friend you come, with the dawn...

Back in, my heart, I've been dryin, my eyes

See me run...

So you hang on, to me, and I'll hang on, to you

Said together we're one, divided, we're through...

Divided, we're through...

Refusing, to talk, I suppose that its all, for loves sake...

Aint it babe

And learning, to give, thats important

Before, you can, take from me...

Are you listening, to me, when I'm talking, to you

Said together, we're one, divided, we're through

So hang, on to me, and I'll hang on, to you

Said together, we're one, divided we're through...

Said together, we're one...

Just like the sun, over the mountaintop

You know i'll always, come again...

You know I love, to spend my mornin' times

Like sunlight, dancin' on your skin...

I've never gone sooo wrong, as for tellin' lies to you

What you see is what, i've been...

There is nothing I, could hide from you

You see me better than, I can...

Out on the rooooad that liiies before me now

There are some turrrrns where I, will spend...

I only hope that you, will hold me, now

Till I Can Gain, Control Again ~~~~~~~

Just like a lighthouse, you must stand alone

Landmark a sailors, journey's end...

No matter what sea I, been sailin' on

I'll always pass, this way, again...

Out onnnn the roooad that lies before me now

There arrrre some turns where I, will spend

I only hope, that you will hold me now...

☼Till I Can Gain Control Again☼

Well I've held, it all inward, God knows I've tried

But its an awful awakenin, in a country boy's life...

To look in, the mirror in total surpriiise

At the hair on my shoulders, and the age in my, eyes

Amannnnda light of my life...

Fate should have made you, a gentleman's wife...

Amannnnda, light of my life...

Fate, should have made you, a gentleman's wife.......

Lord it's a measure of people, who don't understannnd

The pleasures of life, in a hillbilly band...

I got my first guitar, when I was 14...

Now I'm over 30, still wearin jean...

Amannnnda, light of my life...

Fate should have, made you, a gentleman's wife...

Amannnnda, light of my life...

Fate should have made you, a gentleman's, wife...

The angels were singin' , a sad counrty song

It sounded, like somethin' of yours...

With a conscience as clear as the tear, in your eye

And a heart, beaten golden and pure...

And I felt all the feelins, we said down in song

Tore, from the body and soul...

And the fortunes that faded, like stars into daylight

And teardrops, we turned into gold...

Every hard rockin' wreck, on the highway

Every heart broken rule, of the road...

Every true thing we wrote on the wind, is still singin'

Love, is The Last Thing To Go...

Love, is the reason, we happened at all

And it paid for, the damage we done...

And it bought us the freedom, to fall into grace

On our way, to our place in the sun...

Every hard rockin' wreck on the HIGHway

Every heart broken rule, of the road...

Every true thing we wrote on, the wind is still singin

Love, is The Last Thing To Go...
