learning to live again

I'm lost and miss my husband. He's in hospital dying of cancer. It's been 3 long months and I don't know how to cope. I need advice.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband. You don't really mention much, apart from your husband.

Are you on any medication yourself for anything? Depression, Stress, Anxiety etc. Have you not got Macmillan Nurses to talk to? I don't know how it works over there, I am from the UK.

Over here, there are macmillan nurses who specialise in Cancer Patients. They talk to the families of cancer patients who are dying, and help them along in trying to cope.

I suppose you are doing all you can. I realise the worst is yet to come!

Remember we are here for you anytime you want to talk...

Hi Kari & thank you for your quick response.

Thank you so much for your message! believe it or not I'm in british columbia canada and things are very different here. I also haven't figured out this site completely. don't know what a tag is. never heard of a thread either. Again I am so thankful you responded. I was crying as I wrote this morning. A tag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information (such as an internet bookmark, digital image, or computer file). This kind of metadata helps describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching. Tags are chosen informally and personally by the item's creator or by its viewer, depending on the system. On a website in which many users tag many items, this collection of tags becomes a folksonomy.

Definition: A thread is a single sequential flow of control within a program.

There is nothing new in the concept of a single thread. The real hoopla surrounding threads is not about a single sequential thread, but rather about the use of multiple threads in a single program all running at the same time and performing different tasks.

The HotJava Web browser is an example of a multithreaded application. Within the HotJava browser you can scroll a page while it's downloading an applet or image, play animation and sound concurrently, print a page in the background while you download a new page, or watch three sorting algorithms race to the finish. You are used to life operating in a concurrent fashion...so why not your browser?

Some texts use the name lightweight process instead of thread. A thread is similar to a real process in that a thread and a running program are both a single sequential flow of control. However, a thread is considered lightweight because it runs within the context of a full-blown program and takes advantage of the resources allocated for that program and the program's environment.

As a sequential flow of control, a thread must carve out some of its own resources within a running program. (It must have its own execution stack and program counter for example.) The code running within the thread works only within that context. Thus, some other texts use execution context as a synonym for thread.

I have copied the meanings of tag & Thread on the net for you to look at. Don't worry about it, I am not familiar with them myself!

You say that you are on Anti-Depressants and you are going on to sleeping Tablets. Just be careful with the Sleeping tablets. They can become very addictive! Also, they can make you very tired throughout the day as well!

Everyone on this site are very nice as you will get to know. We all suffer some form of mental illness.

I suffer from Manic Depression (Bipolar Disorder) Anxiety, Stress, Insomnia, & only recently my doctor has found out I also suffer from High Blood Pressure & a rapid Heart Rate which I'm on medication to try & bring my BP down & my HR slower.

Don't ever feel alone. With me suffering from Insomnia, I am on here till 2/2.30am. Might not always be on here right through, but I pop back from time to time.

If ever you want a private word, you can always email me through a private message on my profile. Just go on members list and click on Paula. It will ask you if you want to send a private message, just click.
