Hi,

Nice to see another forum for people with Mental Illness.

I am an artist and educator who also has Major Depression, PTSD, and ADHD. Currently I am scheduled for extensive testing for a hearing/balance disorder that I have been dealing with for quite some time without getting and definitive answers. This has caused a relapse in my depression and I am slowly but progressively getting better.

Monday I have the testing at a medical school. I am nervous wondering if they will be able to diagnose me and about the unknown. Will this disorder be treatable or will I be learning to deal with a physical disability and have to change my goals, dreams, and even be able to work again.

The impact of physical illness on depression and other MI's is of particular interest to me. I look forward to meeting other members and being part of a support network.

Flutterby,

Thanks for sharing, and good luck with your testing. I appreciate your concern. Especially with subtle problems, getting the diagnosis right is often frustrating and difficult. Better to know more than less in this sort of case, however, I think. You may be right that treatments may not be optimal for whatever this is, but until you know what you're dealing with, you can't even engage properly what is available.
