tobeistohope Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Hello everyone! It has been awhile since I have felt the need to be here! My therapy has been going well, as well as my life and I hope things are the same for all of you!I have a simple question that I would like to ask here before I ask my therapist. Do you think your therapist is allowed to write a letter of reference or character for a scholarship application? I really need one, but I don't want to ask him if he will have to refuse. :cool:Anybody?A great and peaceful day to everyone!
tobeistohope Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 Well, it's just him, no receptionist or anything, so I will ask him. Thanks!
CantGiveItAway Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Its nice to here someone that is doing good!!
tobeistohope Posted February 18, 2011 Author Report Posted February 18, 2011 And how are you doing, cantgiveitaway?
LaLa Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Yes, it's really nice to hear you're doing good! :D I hope you're not the only one here!L.P.S.: I'm quite well now, too .
tobeistohope Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 Glad you're doing well, too, Lala! And, I hope there are many more! I backslid a little bit this week. After not smoking for 6 months, I got stressed out and bought a pack. I'm on my third pack now. I really need to quit again before I get too addicted again. Going to see my therapist on Monday!
Guest ASchwartz Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Hi Tobeistohope,At times it came up in my practice where a patient would ask for a reference. I did refuse but not without carefully exploring the issue. Part of therapy is learning how to fend for yourself in the outside world and, therefore, its better to go elsewhere for these things. In addition, is it ever a good idea to have a letter of reference from your therapist? How would that look to the person to whom the reference is submitted? In my opinion, its not a good idea: for your own self.Thoughts and comments?Allan
LaLa Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I agree with Allan. I understand why Amy wanted to ask him for the reference, but I also think that she could regret it afterwards (Allan mentioned the reasons).
LaLa Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 ..................[sorry; it was an error of the computer or server - I posted the same twice]
tobeistohope Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Oh, I never thought of that, Allan! Ppl might ask why I have a therapist. Thank you so much for telling me that! And thanks for everyone else's posts too! Today I am seeing my therapist and since I am having some financial trouble I am going to ask him if he thinks it is a good idea to let him refer me somewhere that they take my insurance. It is going to be hard, but it is causing me a lot of anxiety not knowing when I'll be able to continue with the therapy. Just going whenever I can isn't going to be very therapuetic, I think.
LaLa Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I'm sorry that you have to change therapist... I know it has to be very hard... But I hope that you'll find somebody you'll have a great relationship with, too! Good luck!!!L.
