Russ000
I have GAD and it seems like I just can't have conversations about my feelings/problems sometimes. If the topic is making me too vulnerable I'll get to a point where I can barely speak or I can't speak at all. I'll be in session with my psychologist and I'll struggle to speak for minutes at a time, I just can't get the words out. I've actually written down or emailed things to him before when I knew I wouldnt be able to say it out loud, but I can't always guess ahead like that. I don't know what to do. IrmaJean
I think a lot of us feel frightened about revealing our vulnerabilities to others. It may take more time with your therapist for you to feel safe expressing deep inner feelings. Maybe you might express to him/her that you feel vulnerable and it's very difficult to speak about your feelings? Emotional honesty is one way to build trust and, in time, you may be more comfortable expressing more. In the meantime, I hope you can be gentle with yourself.Take care, Russ.
