serenitynow Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Can anyone recommend a Cognitive Behavior Therapy self-help book? I know there are so many available, so it is overwhelming to know which one to choose. I am looking for one that explains how to change your thinking to positive thoughts and how to cope with life situations. Thanks! Quote
Guest Megan Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Hello, I recommend "Mind over Mood" by Dennis Greenberger, Ph.D., and Christine A. Padesky, Ph.D; A Cognitive Therapy Treatment Manual for Clients. They have it here at Amazon.com.It's like a workbook that can help change your thinking around. Quote
Artmaker Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 I have used the 12 step program to turn my issues around you can get a book called Emotions Anonymous basic text.which teaches you how to get out of your head, do what you need to do on a daily basis and have a good life.It taught me that I could use spirituality to help me and I didn't have to go near religion ...ask the Buddhists !I was diagnosed with Alcoholism, Clinical depression, personality disorders . I had no life . now im going to university moving in with my girlfriend and helping others out through a 12 step selfgroup.Hope this helps ..joe.. Quote
