Luna- Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 I found this short article on PsychCentral (another great mental health website). It sounds promising, I hope they can show positive results.Treating depression with oxytocin
pascal reeve Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Im surely belive that is true, we all know that feeling when oxytocin starts releasing
frazzled1 Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 It is an interesting concept. However, if they could reproduce oxytocin in a way that it would be used by our body in the same way that our natural oxytocin is used then would that not equate to a "Love Potion?" The problem with man made oxytocin consumption might be the same as consuming foods with the chemical tryptophan. Tryptophan is required for serotonin production, uptake and utilization. It can be found in certain foods like turkey. The trouble with eating foods with tryptophan is that it is not metabolized in a way that is useful to our mood regulating systems. You would do better, to increase natural tryptophan, to include more complex carbs in your diet.Sorry if I sound like a downer. Just making another point.
