depression/mania

a few weeks ago my husband had a major anxiety/depression breakdown and ended up in the hospital for a few days and off from work for a month. He is generally a self-sufficient, high energy guy with some ocd tendancies. while i warned him he was slipping into a depression, due to work and family related stresses, he didn't believe me until the trip to the emergency room.

now he is off all his meds and back to a high energy kind of life...but i am thinking too high energy....almost manic....is this common after a breakdown?

is there some sort of "bounce back" effect? swinging too far in the other direction?
