What I learned at EST

Life is conversation, a speaking and a listening. It is this way because that is how it occurs.

The voice you hear in your head is saying exactly what you are listening for. It is called the "already always listening" and it creates a clearing for the occurring that is your life.

By changing your speaking and listening you can change your life because that is what your life consists of: an on going conversation. It is so automatic that we forget that it is there or can be changed.  To make it work you have to honor your word as yourself.

"It is important that you get clear for yourself that your only access to impacting life is action.  The world does not care what you intend, how committed you are, how you feel or what you think, and certainly it has no interest in what you want and don't want.  Take a look at life as it is lived and see for yourself that the world only moves for you when you act." - Werner Erhard

Been a long time since I posted anything here but came across this in my FB feed and it just nailed it for me.  In my opinion too many people these days seem to feel that if they look a certain way, make the right gestures, hold the right opinions, put in time on a job/relationship/project, network on social media etc that ultimately someone will recognize how deserving they are and award them.  As Monty Python might say "Not bloody likely!".

No matter what you do life only turns out the way it turns out.  If you look back over your life you will see life has always turned out the way it did and never any other way - no matter what you did.  When I found out that nothing I had ever done had made a difference in my life, I was sad for a week.  And on the other side of the realization that there was nothing I could do to force life to work came the realization that it worked perfectly.  A thing is perfect when it is the way it is.  When it is not the way it is then it is flawed.  Life is always the way it is hence perfect.  It did not work the way I wanted it to, it worked the way it worked and only that way.  I just needed to get my fingers out of the machinery.  What you need to do in order to get life to do what it is doing is nothing.  Nothing is the most simple and hence most difficult notion to grasp.  To do nothing means to do exactly what you are doing.  Nothing more, nothing less.
