danni Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 On January 12, more than 230,000 people were killed in the Haiti earthquake. The devastation there is simply staggering. Unimaginable. It leaves so many asking questions of "why?" Two years ago today, I lost a dear friend in the devestating earthquake in Haiti. 1 year ago I went there and stood over the rubble where he remains and said good-bye. While I was there I met many people and worked and talked with many children. The resilience of the Haitian spirit was such an inspiration. We worked with a group of young people who wrote a song together about the day of the quake. These amazing children found some healing through music but also showed a strength and determination not only to survive, but to thrive and honor those lost by rebuilding a stronger Haiti. Here's the words to their song: January 12th, a day of terror and tears.Eyes and hearts of Haitians filled with painA horrific disaster, followed by cholera, and miserytake so many to their death Your blood spilled, but your souls live on and you are with us,Giving your fellow Haitians strengthfor the work of rebuilding HaitiRIP Ben and the other 230,000 who lost their lives that day.
IrmaJean Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I'm sorry for your loss. The earthquake was a terrible tragedy. Children can be such bright lights during dark times. They always bring hope and joy. I hope the healing and rebuilding continues.
