malign, I'm sorry if I was offensive, I didn't mean to be offensive, like I don't like scottish people or something, I just meant being far from home is scary and also that you never know if they'll let you back in.

maybe you can go anywya than maybe look for another job when you get back?

I wasn't offended, starlight. Lots of people never leave the States. Take your passport, and they'll let you back in. They need people to pay the taxes. {Honestly, I've left the country literally dozens of times without a single immigration hassle, coming or going. And I'm not that attractive.}

@Blossom: ... particularly since you hate your job, at the moment ...

I used to have bangs; well, back when I still had something to make them out of.

I assume that that doesn't help, as a recommendation ...

It sounds like you need the help of a competent hairdresser.

Sadly, I'm not one.

No, sweety.

Just before taking the woman that I ended up marrying on a dinner dance cruise on the Potomac River for Mother's Day, I decided to trim my eyebrows with the electric beard trimmer I had. It has an attachment that goes over the blades, with a dial to set the height of the cut, so you don't cut too close.

I carefully checked the height setting was the same one as I had just used for my mustache, and started trimming. I was halfway done with my right eyebrow when I realized it was cutting too close.

Sadly, I forgot that, in between, I had removed the attachment to clean it, and hadn't put it back on.

I removed the right half of my right eyebrow down to the skin.

The best I could do was to carefully trim both sides so they didn't look too different, and then pretend there was nothing wrong. I had to get up and slow-dance and everything (I did tell her, of course; I was horribly upset at first.)

But in the end, I have no reason to believe that anyone else even noticed.
