Recovery Experiences

First, the statement, "not a real alcoholic" cannot be taken seriously. This venue is not an exercise in onedownmanship. No one here can be in the one up position by inverse braggadocio.

The idea that alcoholism is a disease can be useful from an operational point of view: it affords the medical profession the opportunity to be part of the solution to a problem.

Julian's posts indicate, quite clearly, that no artificial drama need be created. There is sufficient inherent drama. I think that a reduction in drama is indicated; and, something akin to a 'business like' stance. I think that a strengthening of motivation and determination is needed; not he opposite.

The matter is: how is that done?

Julian's post also demonstates this: there are cosequences to going visiting in another person's life. Further, those consequences will not befall the visitor.

I feel close to speechless after reading this. Even in what little I know of you, it is not surprising to me that you have turned your life around in the way that you have. Your inner spirit is too powerful, pure and radiant to be denied. Your mind is unbelievably vast. I find that taking a tour of it while reading your posts oftens makes mine ache from the strain. I find the brain exercise challenging and pleasant, though. The gifts you carry within you showed you the way. I'm so glad.
