Hi I got a private message. could anyone perhaps explain how it works. I saw it by chance and cannot even remember how and where. Maybe the member does not know about the forum?

Hi Snoeps, the private message feature on the site allows you to send a recieve messages to and from other members without any other members being able to see them.

Let's say you have a question to ask another member but don't want anyone else knowing or it would be pointless posting on the forum you can just send them a message.

You can view your private message area by clicking on the "Private Messages" link top right of the page under your username, or click here http://community.mentalhelp.net/private.php

New messages are in bold. Explore that panel and you should work out how it works, if you want to send a private message to a member you can click on their name in a post and click "Send Private Message", just enter your message and press send then.

I hope i have helped, if not just post back with what your unsure of and i'll explain it in more detail

Now I have learned something new. Just noticed it now that u explained it to me. I must have clicked on it but cant remember. Oh the age is creeping up.

The person named 'snoeps' hasn't been online since last August, however. Are you saying that the message you received was from them?

I would just like to know how he or she got into it not saying anything inappropriate just would like to get him or her off!

Maybe i should get off the community website don't want to but i can't get it right on anything in here if i am disturbing anybody i will just have to forge on my own and not talk to anbody at all

Leo, you aren't doing anything wrong. I am concerned that someone may be spamming your inbox. You can block this poster until Malign looks into this further. This is from the FAQ:

Can I block posts, emails and messages from specific users?

If there are particular members that bother you and you do not want to see their posts or receive Private Messages and Emails from them, then you can add these members to your 'Ignore List'. There are several ways to do this:

Through your User Control Panel: User CP, Settings & Options, Edit Ignore List. Then, type their name into the empty text box and click 'Okay'.

It sounds like this could be about my PM, then: no, you don't have to leave the community and I'm not overly disturbed. I merely don't like private conversations much for my own reasons. Other people handle that differently, so there's nothing wrong with trying. I'm sorry you feel like you're not getting the response you need.

no it's not you not at all it's me i don't know what i am doing on here because i am computer illterate i would'nt want to either i just for get the other way i have something that has caused me so much trauma that i honestly think i am losing at least part of my mind

Hello Leo.

As i remember you came into this community because you were in need of support. You shared some of your experiences with us and also, you gave other people support as well.

I received at some point some PMs with pornographic content and that was clearly from an intruder that was not welcome into the community. This was dealt with very quickly. Websites are a bit like space in our surroundings. Imagine a gated community with guards and fences and all of that. It's safe and it makes it difficult for others to come in, but not impossible.

If you report it as soon as it happens then it will be dealt with very efficiently. You did report it, but as you say you don't understand much of how computers/internet work. You might have felt intruded upon and also confused?

I think that as long as you one is benefiting from the community one should stay. Problems may eventually arise but after all we are a group of people like any other group of people. Please stay if you feel that you are getting support.

Re computers... i was not taught. The more i used them the more i got to understand. Like you.
