Autobiography in Five Short Chapters

Recommended Posts

I.

I walk down the street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I fall in.

I am lost . . . I am helpless.

It isn't my fault.

It takes me forever to find a way out.

II.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I fall in again.

I can't believe I am in the same place

but, it isn't my fault.

It still takes a long time to get out.

III.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I see it there.

I still fall in . . . it's a habit.

My eyes are open;

I know where I am.

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

IV.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I walk around it.

V.

I walk down another street.

It's a good analogy for therapy, isn't it?

Every so often I have to remind myself that it's OK to just take another street in Chapter 2 already, instead of all those bruisings you take falling into the hole.

Site helicopter??? Yeah, guess that's true ... :(

Luna,

Your poem is wonderful. Just wonderful. I want to thank you so very much for it. There is such a message of hope there. It takes many, many repetitions, for all of us, but, we can learn to walk around the hole instead of falling in. Yes!!!:)

Hi Luna. It is a wonderful poem, and I hope to remember it next time I walk down that same old street with that same old hole in it.:)

Finding are you sure taking a helicopter is a good idea? I seem to remember our last mission impossible when you failed to rescue me because all of you were too busy shopping using Allan's checkbook! :)
