"The Lass of Aughrim".

"Eleanor Rigby" (Lennon and McCartney)

Me too, IrmaJean!:P

I heard this piece of music being played in an online chat room a couple of years ago. It was so beautiful it made me cry:

Pachelbel's Canon

To me it sounds like everything life can be: wonderful; sad; happy; moving; emotional; free; and hopeful. :)

Made me cry too!

For me, asking me to choose a favorite song is like asking a starving man to choose a favorite food, or a drowning man to choose a favorite straw:D

The infection by Disturbed. This song makes me think of all my past wrongs that just fester in me. They have to be forgiven and let go.

The Infection lyrics

In the back of my mind I can

Barely even remember when

There was nothing left to hide and

She had found a way inside, then

I was forced to walk alone

Living in an empty home

All I wanted was to hide and

Try to numb the ache inside

And I'm still afraid of the light

And a thousand voices share their laughter at my demise

Now if I am to survive

The infection must die

Murder the beast that's been eating me alive

The infection must die

Nothing left but a broken man

Terrified of everything

Nothing left of his foolish pride, his

Fond memories slowly die, then

As he wakes again alone

Still a prisoner in his home

Ready to allow the dark to

Penetrate his broken heart

And I'm still afraid of the light

And a thousand voices share their laughter at his demise

(Chorus x 2)

This is where I draw the line

This infection must die

Give me release from this demon of mine

The infection must die

The infection must Die

Got on board a westbound 747

Didn't think before deciding what to do

All that talk of opportunities

TV breaks and movies

Rang true

Sure rang true

Seems it never rains in southern California

Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before

It never rains in California

But girl don't they warn ya

It pours, man it pours

Out of work, I'm out of my head

Out of self respect, I'm out of bread

I'm underloved, I'm underfed, I wanna go home

It never rains in California

But girl don't they warn ya

It pours, man it pours

Will you tell the folks back home I nearly made it

Had offers but didn't know which one to take

Please don't tell 'em how you found me

Don't tell 'em how you found me

Gimme a break, give me a break

Seems it never rains in southern California

Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before

It never rains in California

But girl don't they warn ya

It pours, man it pours.

Lately, I've become attached to Leonard Cohen's "Everybody knows".

Everybody knows the dice are loaded,

Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed,

Everybody knows the war is over.

Everybody knows the good guys lost.

Everybody knows the fight was fixed.

The poor stay poor stay poor and the rich stay rich.

That's how it goes.

Everybody knows.

Everybody knows, everybody knows, that's how it goes...

Everybody knows.

Everybody knows the boat is leaking.

Everybody knows the captain lied.

Everybody's got this sinking feeling

Like their father or their dog just died.

Everybody's reaching for their pockets

Everybody wants a box of chocolates

or a long stemmed rose.

Everybody knows.

Well, you can look up the rest. Anyway, I'm inspired by a guy who can still tour in his 80's, can sing depressing (yet beautiful) songs and his music is respected and played by so many other artists.

Today I was belting out Johnny Reid's "Today I'm Gonna Try and Change the World" as I drove my kids to school. Singing while driving has become a habit over the last year. I find the song very inspiring: "Today I'm gonna try and change the world. I'm gonna take it one day at a time. I've made my resolution. I've opened up my eyes. Today I'm going to try and change the world...." Anyway I asked my kids how they liked it and they both did. Then I asked if they liked it better than "Broken Promises" by Alicia Keys, which I was belting out a year ago. (a pretty depressing, angry song). As I started singing it again today, they both yelled, "STOP" at the same time. I guess I'm starting to feel better, and so are they! :(

I still remember the first time I heard Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli sing 'Time to Say Goodbye'. I had only recently bought a computer and the internet and I was in an online room. Someone started playing it and I felt as though an electric shock had gone through me. I couldn't stop crying, it was so beautiful. It reminded me of how much I had been missing by not listening to music for years.
