it's still not working. the screen just went black on it earlier when i was on it even though it was still turned on and i thought that maybe if i waited for the battery to run out it would work again if i recharged it. but it's not. it just turns on for a few seconds and then off again.:) i dunno what to do. i'm going to get shouted at soooooo much:(

This may make me Captain Obvious, but should the laptop stop working, this is likely due to a product fault as opposed to something you did. Even if they shouted at you and tried to make you feel bad, I think this is the main point to consider. The state of your laptop is not your fault, and it is best to marshal your thoughts to something productive, like what the next action is. Your parents may not have the maturity to ask this question themselves, but you're still so young with so much potential.

By the way, if you got it brand new in Christmas, there is most likely a one-year manufacturer's warranty. You can bring it back to the store you bought it from, and have the staff there check your laptop and send it to the manufacturer for repair.

thanks kaudio!! oh they blame me for everything anyway. they'd probably say that i dropped it or something. i'm so happy it's working again!! i have a feeling it's going to break again.. everytime i pick it up i can hear something rattling around in it:( how are you?

I am good. I am not sure what to make of this rattling so it may be a good idea to take advantage of your warranty now by bringing the laptop in. Should the store send the laptop back to the manufacturer for repairs, in my experience, the process could take a few weeks. I am not sure what it is like in the U.K. and Europe though.

thank youuuu guys!! i already have an anti-virus software installed so i don't think i have any viruses or anything like that. i probably should send it back but i can't. i can't live without my laptop. that would make me sad..:)

yep i have money saved. i don't care whether they're on board or not. i can't live without my laptop right now when i'm living at home. maybe when i start college i'll send it away because i'm sure there will be computers in the college..

Well, if you have your own money I guess it's all set.

I had to wait to save up, but I bought a laptop myself over the weekend. Now I just need to get cable to bring the internet to my apartment, and that's set for some time this week.

But at least you're good at it! (the search for the 'bright side' continues ...)

Mine's pretty much basic (manly) black; color wasn't really that high up on my priority list. ;-) It's a Compaq. I got a refurbished one, which reduced the price. I hope it doesn't reduce any of the good things.

I don't know if you can paint computers.

I think viruses can be fixed, if they're not really bad.

But I don't have wireless internet in my house anyway and I can't figure out how to get it. I bought a wireless router and my aunt tried to hook it up for me but in order to do it she would have had to take out my dads antivirus software for a few minutes and he wouldn't let her. I don't know how else to get a wireless connection.
