the weekends go so fast. i dunno whether that's good or bad.. it's really weird because when i'm in college i don't feel like coming home for the weekend but when i do come home i don't feel like going back. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT!!!!!

i am dreading going back to college later. i just want to stay here and SLEEP!!!!! tomorrow is going to be awful. all our perspective work is getting marked:eek:.....

i was supposed to find a church this weekend and draw it but i havn't had a chance with work. and all my other perspective work is crap. i hope i don't fail.. all i want is a pass.. i wish i could just move back home.. i think i prefer it here. college is too scary for me.

Yah well, my weekend wasn't so hot, but I'm still here. ;-)

Why don't you get to know your marks? Isn't that the point of getting marks, so that you know what to improve? Doesn't make sense to me. Can you at least ask whether there's anything in particular you need to improve on?

it's part of a continues assessment thing. we get seperate marks for each discipline we try and then at the end of the year they're all added together and that's the result we get. she's been telling us how we can improve but she talks a weird art language that i havn't mastered yet. she's so confusing.. and then when i try do what i think she has told me to do...it's wrong!!! when she was marking my perspective work today she let out a big sigh so i don't think i did very well.

Goodness, hon, trying to guess what people are thinking based on their sighs is really difficult. For all you know, she's in love, or had too much to eat for lunch.

Ask, sweety. That's how you find things out. And if you don't understand the first answer (after thinking and trying), ask again. That's her job: helping you to understand. She might want you to try on your own, but ultimately, she needs to teach you. No one expects you to understand weird languages without help. If they do, that's their mistake.

ha i'm pretty sure she was sighing at how bad my work looked because then she started telling me everything that was wrong about it. i have asked lots of times. we're finished perspective now anyway. this week we have to draw an object so we started that today. but of course my lines were all wrong blah blah blah. apparently my lines didn't look "happy" or "smooth" enough..

Meh, when you're learning, you can't afford to think in terms of "right" and "wrong". Because the whole point is that if you could do everything "right", you'd be teaching them!

'Finding' had to try real hard to find a line of mine that she could say something good about. To me, they all looked crooked and tortured. :-) But I can see a bit of what she was saying, about the good ones ... It's all progress, little one. Maybe your lines were just telling you how you're feeling, today?

Well, there ya go. I would do shitty work for a shitty college, too. :-P

Sweety, good or bad, it's a chance to learn something. Even if it's the worst college in the world, you have time to practice; plus, you can ignore any part of it you want and keep the rest. Did you read that book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain? They kept giving examples of van Gogh's progress as he taught himself to draw. You already have an advantage over him, well, two: someone's trying to help you learn, and you have both your ears. Don't give up so soon.

It could be a great art college, honey.

You've only been there, what, two weeks?

I think it deserves a couple more chances, at least.

And, well, no one likes being told what to do, but let's face it, that's the majority of the grown-up world. Even artists have patrons, and gallery directors, and critics.
