When I worked in a drugstore, the teenagers who worked afternoons used to hollow out the stacks of boxes in the back room and hide in there to sleep.

It was always fun catching them. :-)

Well, it depends how long they were in there before I got suspicious that there was no one out on the floor. :-)

They weren't the brightest bulbs, if you know what I mean; giggling and whispering to each other and wondering how I could tell they were in there when I had stacked the boxes there myself that morning.

I wasn't a manager, but I was a floor supervisor, which meant I was supposed to worry about them whenever I wasn't worried about something else. :-)

Teenagers sleep so much because:

a) They're growing.

:) They stay up all night partying.

c) They haven't learned any sort of balance yet.

d) All of the above.

What, teenagers? :-)

No, most of them are great. After all, they're just kids. They're just transitioning into adults, and that's hard for everybody. There's lots to learn, lots of decisions to make about who you're going to be.

Some of them become monsters, but none of them "have to".

Even the kids who were hiding in the boxes probably didn't turn into monsters. They learned about giving their employer a fair return for their salary, and went on to become productive adults. It's just an adventure helping them learn that, that's all. :-)
