Well, in a way. You get to it before it gets to you. :-)

I think a lot of artists are trying to understand or cope with death, or life. Whichever part of the cycle they focus on. But the two are really inseparable; you can't have one without the other.

Yay! That's where you need to be right now.

Does calling something 'stupid' allow you to stop thinking about it? That would be one way to filter out stuff you don't need to worry about at the moment.

No clothes? You're making the Emperor's New Funeral Clothes? :-P

It's a Chinese story; I'm surprised you've never heard it, though.

The Emperor commissions a new suit of clothes, but not just any clothes. They have to be the finest, the best, the most unusual that anyone has ever seen. But the tailors are so afraid of the Emperor that they are afraid to make him anything, because no matter what, it won't be good enough. So instead, they decide to tell him that the clothes that they've made are so light that they're transparent. They make an elaborate show of "dressing" him, and he is astonished that he can see right through his beautiful clothes. He goes out on the street to show his new clothes to the people, but they are too afraid to contradict him or laugh at him. Finally, one child sees the truth and dares to say "Look, the Emperor has no clothes!"

You could just refuse to die; that might work, if you're stubborn enough. :-)
